 Join us for a panel discussion and networking event which focuses on connecting young professionals with sustainability leaders in NYC. 

 

Our experts will explore how the sustainability movement and triple-bottom-line-focus can transform the environmental, social, and economic viability of traditionally African-American, urban communities

Moderator

Patrick Duggan is a native New Yorker, born in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn and raised in Hollis, Queens.  In 2004, Patrick was appointed by Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi as Deputy County Executive for Economic Development.  Patrick oversaw a $65 million budget and was responsible for advancing the Nassau County economic development plan including the development of housing. Prior to joining Nassau County, Patrick served for five years as the founder and first Executive Director of Sustainable Long Island, a regional nonprofit organization that is the leading provider of technical assistance for sustainable development in Long Island communities.     

Panelists

Majora Carter is founder and former Executive Director of the Sustainable South Bronx – a non-profit which pioneers green-collar job training and placement systems in one of the most environmentally and economically challenged parts of the US. This MacArthur “genius” is now president of her own economic consulting firm, a co-host on Sundance Channel’s The Green, and host of a new special public radio series called, The Promised Land.

 

Walter J. Edwards is a founding partner and Chief Executive Officer of Full Spectrum, an international market leader in the development of mixed use and mixed income green buildings in emerging urban markets. Projects include the award winning flagship project 1400 on 5th in Harlem; the Kalahari Condominium in Harlem; and its consulting work on the award winning Solaire at Battery Park City.
